Mr. Alfred I. duPont constructed the marina basin to be home port for his yacht "Nenemoosha ." Today EFYC is hailing port for some of the finest and most traveled yachts in northeast Florida.
Epping Forest Yacht Club Power Fleet focuses on camaraderie and cruising for those members that enjoy motor yachts. All Members similarly interested are invited to participate in the Power Fleet. The flotilla regularly cruises from Jekyll Island Georgia, to the Bahamas and beyond. See the Marina Calendar for a full listing of planned Power Fleet events.
Each month the Power Fleet publishes an electronic newsletter, the Ships’ Wheel, which reports on the fleet’s most recent activities and planned events.
Power Fleet Activities
Monthly Meetings
The Power Fleet meets the first Thursday of each month in the mansion. The evenings begin with cocktails and complimentary hors d'oeuvres at 5:00 pm. The meetings start at 6:00 P.M. with discussions about past/upcoming cruises and often a program on boating tips, safety or other interesting topics. Following the meeting, Members are invited to enjoy a buffet dinner in the private room so the fellowship and friendship may continue to be shared while dining.
Cruising
Cruises, organized by volunteer cruise masters ensure memorable weekends for the 12 to 20 boats that usually cruise. Beyond the regularly scheduled cruises there are impromptu cruises, social gatherings and longer distance cruises planned by portions of the Power Fleet.
