Junior sailing activities focus on teaching children to sail and enjoy wholesome physical activity on the wide St. Johns River. More advanced programs for accomplished sailors and competitive racing are also conducted and private instruction may be arranged. The club maintains a fleet of International Optimist Prams, Lasers, single handed boats and Club 420 high performance double handed boats, all used in the junior programs. The club also offers a J-22 keelboat used with both juniors and adults. All boats are available for rental to qualified, responsible adults 18 years of age or greater.
Supervised junior sailing programs are offered most of the year. During the school year after school and weekend programs are offered September through December and February through May. During the summer, week long sailing camps are offered June through July. Programs are offered for different age groups and/or skill levels so that children of similar size and maturity can enjoy both the physical and social aspects of sailing.
Epping Forest Yacht Club also serves as the home for the Bolles High School Sailing Club and Regatta Team.
Reservations are required for all programs, call Steve at 739-7150
Participation in each session is limited to a number that allows all children significant time on the water. The child’s parent or guardian must verify the child is capable of swimming unassisted and sign a Medical / Emergency Release and Waiver of Liability for each child for each session.
